Point Reyes National Seashore Park

The Point Reyes Seashore Lodge is just outside of the
Point Reyes National Seashore Park entrance.
The Bear Valley Visitor's Center is located nearby.

It is an excellent place to begin
your exploration of this fabulous place.
Sir Francis Drake landed at what is today known as
Drake's Bay in the summer of 1579.
The Park preserves many historic relics of older ways of life in California.  The Point Reyes Peninsula has long been an important agricultural area that has helped to support a series of different cultures including the Miwok People, Spanish, Mexican and now modern America.
Heart's Desire Beach is one of many places in the Park where it is possible to go  beach combing or swimming.  There are  also miles and miles of walking paths all through the park as well as numerous places to go bike riding.

The Point Reyes National Seashore has some superb interpretative exhibits as well.  This one is a Miwok Indian village as it might have looked in the mid sixteenth century when Sir Francis Drake visited the area.
Nearby there are a multitude of other activities that are available for you to enjoy.  Visit the giant redwood forest at Muir Woods, tour the historic lighthouse at Point Reyes, go bird watching at Bolinas Lagoon, see the sea lions on the beaches, or the tule elk at Pierce Point, or the giant whales just offshore..

The 88,000 acres of natural beauty encompassed by the Park are accessible by a network of well-maintained trails.  We'd be happy to suggest hikes from an easy half-hour to a strenuous, all-day adventure.  Or take advantage of some of these local businesses to explore other aspects of the magnificent peninsula:

Five Brooks Stables: Just five minutes down the road is Five Brooks Stables, ready for your horseback riding pleasure.  From a one-hour group ride to a six hour private ride out to the beach,  Five Brooks is the key to equestrian enjoyment.
